Feeling separated from God's love?

Posted by Jodi & Ron Miller on June 15, 2012 at 11:25 AM Comments comments (0)

Some days I feel so close to God, like I could just crawl up onto His lap. Then there are days when He seems so far away. On days like this I am thankful for God's Word. Regardless of how I feel - the Bible is very clear. There is NOTHING that can ever separate me from His love.

Romans 8:35-39 (NLT)

35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36 (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God's Promises for our Healing Wounds

Years ago I was facing major reconstructive surgery of my ankle. I had been walking around for eight months on a misdiagnosed fracture. The pain had gotten unbearable and yet my doctor thought I was trying to get out of work. Someday I was all to willing to cut off my foot/ankle if it would ease the pain. I had finally reached the end of my pain tolerance. I cried out to God and He heard me. I located an awesome foot and ankle doctor who immediately pin pointed the problem without an MRI. The MRI simply confirmed his thoughts. I was not crazy! The pain was very real. Surgery was the only option. The day of surgery came and I was filled with fear - all the "what if's". Just before walking out the door I fell to my knees with my Bible in hand. I began praying for God's peace. The pages of my Bible opened to Jeremiah 30 and my eyes went to verse 17. "I will give you back your health and heals you wounds, says the LORD" Jeremiah 30:17. (NLT) Tears of relief rolled down my face and peace filled my heart. The surgery was done. A time of healing began and in time rehab was started. As I reflect on this time in my life it reminds me of the steps of healing that have gone along with my abortions. First was the abortion, then all the misinformation I was given, the unbearable pain that I walked around with for twenty years - pain that lead to depression and suicidal thoughts. I cried out to God. He heard me. God lead me to Rachel's Vineyard. Fear of facing what I had done froze me from walking out the door for my retreat. God enabled my husband to lead to me His loving arms at RV. I was not crazy! My post-abortion pain was very real. It's has been twelve years since my retreat and God has repeatedly reminded me of His promise "I will give you back your health and heal you of your wounds, says the Lord." Jeremiah 30:17(NLT) He has kept His promise and I've learned the importance of making my relationship with Him a priority. There are times when I wander away and it's during those times I realize just how much I depend on Him and have learned that He is always there even in our deepest pain and darkest moments. He is there...

God's promise to our weariness..

The following quote comes from a Facebook application entitled - God's Messages which, they send daily words of encouragement.

Today, God's message for you is that time is a physical measurement. Time passes as you grow older, relationships change as time goes on, appointments come and go with the ticking of the clock. When you are no longer under the rule of time, then you are in the realm of the spirit. Take time today to do something timeless, the thing that makes you forget time, and make your spirits soar."

As I read this I was reminded of how tiresome our journey can be. Then I was reminded how awesome God is and how he wants us to soar like wings on eagles but that means we must be willing to take the time to soar with Him.

Isaiah 40:29-31 (NLT)

29 He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. 30 Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. 31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

Blessings,

Hopeless vs. Hopeful

Posted by Jodi & Ron Miller on May 24, 2012 at 4:45 PM Comments comments (0)

Definition of Hopeless - dejected, desolate, downcast, despair, feeling of no hope. (Oxford Dictionary)

Definition of Hopeful - optimistic, promising, encouraging (oxford Dictionary)

I know for myself that prior to attending Rachel's Vineyard Retreat for Post Abortion healing my life was defined as despair, no purpose, dejected and at time suicidal. There was no hope.  Life was not worth living. For many years I lived under this emotional oppression not knowing what the cause of this deep rooted pain. Then there was a ray of light that shined into my life. There was hope - although I didn't know the full scope of the hope at that time. The light I later found out was the love of God. He didn't want me to hurt anymore. He wanted to love and heal my deep deep wounds. There are several Bible verses that gave me hope - John 3:17 "Jesus did not come into the world to condemn the world but that the world though Him might be saved."  Jesus did not condemn me - wow, if Jesus didn't condemn me then who am I to condemn myself? Romans 8:28 "God works all things together for good for those who are called according to His purpose." God works all things, not some things but all things. Jeremiah 30:17 "I will heal you of your wounds and restore your health says, The LORD." The LORD wanted to heal my wounds and restore me. That is the hope I held onto. It is the that hope that has seen me through these past 12 years since I first began to deal with my abortions. I hope this post will give whoever needs it someting to hold onto and find hope in the only ONE who can heal and restore using all things for good - if we let Him.

Back in Service - Yea! - Encouragement

It's amazing how out of the loop one feels when the computer goes down. Well, we're back! Something I'd like to share to be an encouragement to you as this was for me.

1 Chronicles 28:9 New Living Translation (NLT)

9 “And Solomon(insert your name), my son (daughter), learn to know the God of your ancestors intimately. Worship and serve him with your whole heart and a willing mind. For the Lord sees every heart and knows every plan and thought. If you seek him, you will find him. But if you forsake him, he will reject you forever."

An exerpt from my bible: ALL KNOWING: Nothing can be hidden from God. He sees and understands everything in our heart. David found this out the hard way when God sent Nathan to expose David's sin of adultrey and murder (2 Samuel 12).  David told Solomon to be completely open with God and dedicated to him. It makes no sense to try to hide any thoughts and actions from an all-knowing God. This should cause you joy, not fear, because God knows even the worst things about you and loved you anyway.

The ALL knowing Creator of ALL Heaven and earth desires and intimate personal relationship with us. The one who holds the stars in the heavens, causes the earth to spin at the precise speed to keep us all intact. Wow! He causes each one of our hearts to beat. Wow! He loves us no matter what! All He asks is for us to accept Him. Is that so hard for us to do? Can we hold the earth together? Can we cause our heart to beat? Can we sustain eternal life? All He asks is that we believe in Him.  Just something to think about!
